Planning note
Before booking a walking-holiday base
Put trail departures, valley transfers, arrival entrances and weather-dependent plans beside the room offer.
A few things to keep in mind

Write down the walk start and the return
A Chamonix town base and a Les Houches base are different choices even within one valley. Put the actual departure point, likely finish and return connection beside each hotel address. Compare Alpina’s Avenue du Mont-Blanc address with the Les Houches options on Avenue des Alpages or Rue de l’Essert using the journeys you expect to repeat.
Use the right entrance for the arrival
Héliopic illustrates why two provider addresses can both be useful. Its official access information gives 50 Place de l’Aiguille du Midi for the pedestrian approach and 610 Route Blanche for car navigation. Keep the arrival instructions beside the reservation, particularly if a driver, luggage drop or parking arrangement is involved.
Separate the room offer from the mountain plan
A hotel reservation does not include a mountain-transport ticket unless the selected offer explicitly says so. Check current lift operation, route conditions and the return service with their operators. Ask the hotel separately about the room orientation, beds, meal timing and any facilities included in the category you reserve.
Decide what a changed walking day would change
Keep a lower-level alternative for a day when the planned high route is unsuitable. Then examine the accommodation terms: cancellation timing, payment and conditions for extra nights are distinct from the rules for mountain transport. The useful booking is the one whose assumptions remain clear when the itinerary changes.
