The practical case
Choose the accommodation format that fits your party
PlanB Living Chamonix has ordinary rooms, suites, apartments and a large shared-party option. The useful distinction is not just maximum occupancy: it is who sleeps in each space, whether anyone uses a sofa or bunk bed, and whether the party needs a kitchenette. Published sizes are minimums, and the exact provider offer remains the final check for beds, occupancy and view.
| Category | Published minimum | Maximum occupancy | Sleeping arrangement and separation | Kitchenette | View and practical fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Double | 19 m² | 2 | Twin or double bedding in one room | No | A straightforward choice for two; confirm the bed setup. |
| Superior | 24 m² | 3 | Main bed plus sofa bed in one room | No | The category description names a Mont Blanc view; select that category explicitly rather than assuming it from another room photo. |
| One-bedroom suite | 26 m² | 4 | Bedroom plus separate living room with a sofa bed or trundle bed | No | Adds living-space separation, but some guests still sleep on a convertible bed. |
| Two-room family category | 32 m² | 5 | Two sleeping areas | No | Compare the actual bed allocation with the adults and children in the party. |
| One-bedroom apartment | 39 m² | 4 | Separate bedroom and living space | Yes | Useful when simple food preparation and more separation matter. |
| Two-bedroom apartment | 45 m² | 6 | Two bedrooms plus shared living space | Yes | Better suited to a larger party that needs two bedrooms; verify the selected layout. |
| Tribe | 68 m² | 10 | Three shared sleeping areas with single or bunk beds, individual lockers and three showers | No | Group accommodation for one party, not ten private hotel bedrooms. |
For a couple, the Double may be enough unless extra floor area or the named view justifies the Superior. Families should decide whether a sofa bed in a suite gives enough privacy or whether two sleeping areas are more useful. Apartments make sense when a kitchenette changes the daily plan, not simply because the stay is longer. For a group considering the Tribe, agree in advance who is comfortable with bunks and shared sleeping areas.
Treat every headline capacity as a limit, not a promise that the layout suits a particular party. On the selected offer, match the number and ages of guests to the exact category, beds and sleeping areas. A Mont Blanc view must be named in that offer; a general mountain or Aiguilles outlook is not the same category promise.

Before you reserve
Arrange the stay details that can disrupt an early start
Use this checklist before arrival so that a room assumption does not become a walking-day problem:
- Arrival and departure: plan around check-in from 16:00 and checkout before 11:00. Published daytime bag storage can separate time in town from room access, but it does not promise an early room.
- Breakfast: the buffet is listed from 06:30 to 10:00. It may be included in a Bed & Breakfast offer or added separately, so inspect the selected rate. If departure is earlier, ask about takeaway timing; do not assume breakfast delivery to the room.
- Longer luggage storage: same-day hotel storage is different from leaving bags during a multi-day Tour du Mont Blanc walk. The hotel directs guests to separately bookable lockers next door, described as accessible from 06:00 to 23:00. Reserve the needed period and capacity rather than treating this as a room inclusion.
- Apartment wellness: an apartment booking is described as including one sauna-and-steam-room session per stay, reserved through reception. Verify the entitlement on the offer and book the session; it is not unrestricted access for every room category.
- Cooling and requests: rooms have fans rather than air conditioning. Discuss an accessible-room arrangement or baby kit before arrival where relevant. If an event atmosphere could affect an early start, request a suitable room position without treating that request as a quiet-room guarantee.
- Parking: drivers should verify the paid secured underground parking and its terms for the stay instead of assuming parking is included.
These checks are most useful before committing to a category. They let the party judge whether breakfast timing, luggage handling, cooling or one specific request changes the room or rate that should be selected.
Plan arrival, valley movement and the selected offer
Use 196 avenue de Courmayeur, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc as the arrival anchor. For a rail or coach journey, check the connection for the actual travel date through Saint-Gervais-le-Fayet and the onward Mont Blanc Express service. Published access information helps identify the route, but it does not establish a guaranteed frequency, included airport transfer or last-mile journey time.
Keep hotel arrival separate from the first outing. First account for the 16:00 room-access time and decide whether daytime bag storage is needed. Then identify the real trail, lift, train or bus departure, checking both outward and return schedules. This order makes it clearer whether the breakfast window or a kitchenette materially affects the plan.
Ask the accommodation provider for the guest card. Its relevant benefit is internal Mont Blanc Express travel between Servoz and Vallorcine; it is not itself a bus ticket. Check the required bus ticket or qualifying pass separately, and treat mountain-lift arrangements as another purchase. Seasonal timetables and works notices can change the connection, so verify them for the date of travel. The Chamonix guide gives wider valley context without turning this hotel page into an itinerary.
Compare the same stay before choosing a provider
Use identical dates and the same adults and children on each provider. Match the exact room or apartment category, requested view and permitted occupancy, then compare breakfast, parking and the apartment wellness session where applicable. Finally, read the full payment and cancellation terms. Prices, availability and inclusions are live provider facts, so save the selected category description with the confirmation. If the sleeping layout does not work, return to the hotel catalogue rather than comparing a different category as though it were equivalent.
